Description/Mission: The National Runaway Switchboard is the oldest
hotline in the world. Started in Chicago in 1971 as Metro-Help. We have served
as the federally-designated national communication system for runaway and
homeless youth since 1974. Our mission is to facilitate relationships that
ensure youth and families have access to resources in their communities.

Description/Mission: The mission of WINGS is to provide a continuum of
integrated services in an effort to end homelessness and domestic violence one
family at a time. WINGS works to meet its mission through an array of
transitional housing (3 houses and 19 apartments in the north and northwest
suburbs) and supportive services. In late 2004, WINGS opened a domestic
violence emergency Safe House. The Safe House is the first emergency shelter
for victims of domestic violence in the northwest suburbs.
