October 8 and 29 - During The Signature Room's popular Sunday brunch on October 8 and 29, there will be informal modeling of designer Hana Lang's internationally-acclaimed and colorful collection of shearlings, cashmeres and reversible/lined raincoats. During the shows, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., brunch-goers will be presented with Hana K gift certificates valued at $200 toward outerwear purchases.
October 22 - A four-course dinner, paired with wines from the acclaimed Chappellet Vineyard, will take place Sunday, October 22 at The Signature Room at the 95th. For starters, an appetizer selection of smoked plum tomatoes with wild mushrooms will be served with a 1998 Old Vine Cuvee chenin blanc. There will be a choice of two main courses, prepared under the direction of executive chef Robert Nava: sautéed breast of pheasant and grilled ahi tuna which will be accompanied by a 1997 "Signature Reserve" cabernet sauvignon. As a momento, guests will be presented with Signature Series labels signed by vineyard owner Donn Chappellet.
November 23 - The Signature Room at the 95th will serve its traditional Thanksgiving Day buffet on Thursday, November 23 from the hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate popular demand. With roasted turkey and prime rib of beef carving stations and more than 50 items, the buffet will be set with domestic caviar, fresh vegetables and imported cheeses, a selection of gourmet salads, sweet herb and roasted chestnut stuffing, candied yams and baked ham and other chef specialties - including sautéed red snapper with lobster broth. There will be 12 desserts including pumpkin pie and deep dish apple pie. As a final flourish, each party will be presented with sandwich-sliced turkey leftovers packaged to-go. The Signature Room's Thanksgiving buffet is $44.95 for adults and $19.95 for children ages 4 through 12 (no charge for youngsters 3 and under). Reservations are required: 312/787-9596.
November 25 through December 23 - For five Saturdays during the height of the Christmas shopping season - The Signature Room will extend the hours of its popular lunch buffet. The $13.95-per-person buffet - with soup, salads, carving selection and poultry and seafood specialties - will be served 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. (Cost is $9.95 for children 12 and under.) The Signature Room's a la carte menu of lunch salads, sandwiches, seafood and pastas ($8 to $16.50) will be available through 3:30 p.m. As an added boost for Saturday shoppers, there will be complimentary eggnog for lunch guests.
